For weather-dependent overhead line operation, the reliable determination of the sag within a span, which is dependent on the line temperature, is of crucial importance. An integral method for this is to measure the sag angle from the suspension or tension clamp. The measuring system uses a radio-based, energy self-sufficient inclination sensor with a high resolution. A chain-like, secure network structure is used for the transfer of measurement data. A modern digitalization solution supports the display and interpretation of the measurement results in the form of a monitoring cockpit. Using flexible dashboards, the network operator always has an overview of the most important key figures for the line. The presentation provides information on the successful implementation of several pilot installations and provides an outlook on how future-proof data processing can change WAFB monitoring systems.
